What is STIP?
The Georgia Tech Program in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy is sponsored by the Georgia Tech School of Public Policy and Georgia Tech's Enterprise Innovation Institute.
The STIP program aims to establish an internationally recognized initiative focused on research-based, economically-driven, science, technology and innovation policies.
Scientific and technological innovations play an increasing role in economic growth and development. STIP will lay the analytical and policy research foundations for new initiatives in science, technology, and innovation-driven economic development. This program will help Georgia and its local governments and economic development organizations create a vibrant, leading-edge economy.
STIP aims to advance, exploit, bridge, and focus research and practice in science, technology policy, and development. Initially, specific research and policy themes have been identified:

STIP is developing a network that partners Georgia Tech’s science, technology and economic development policy researchers with public service practitioners in the Enterprise Innovation Institute and across the state. Associated with STIP is an interdisciplinary group of Georgia Tech faculty with an array of expertise relevant to science and technology policy including public policy, economic development, economics, management, and engineering. We also engage practitioners, policymakers, and business and community representatives for counsel in developing the program.
