Bob Springfield currently serves as the Associate Director of the Georgia Tech Industrial Extension Service (IES). As Associate Director of IES, he manages the operations of Georgia Tech's four metro Atlanta extension offices. Prior to coming to Georgia Tech, he worked as a corporate staff industrial engineer, a senior consultant and partner for a manufacturing consulting firm and general manager of a three plant manufacturing company. At Georgia Tech, he has served the manager of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Trade Adjustment Assistance Center (TAAC), manager of the Defense Logistics Agency's Procurement Assistance Center and as manager of two industrial extension offices. He also served as manager of the Georgia Tech's Management Services Branch which included several state, industry, and federally funded programs. Mr. Springfield has chaired internal committees developing goals and strategic plans for his organization. He has worked with state and congressional legislators reviewing the legislation for management and technical assistance programs. He was chairman of the national TAAC steering committee and a board member of the Washington, D.C. based Industrial Policy Council. He currently serves as an officer of the American Industrial Extension Association. His expertise includes production and process engineering, finance, and strategic planning. Mr. Springfield holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Tech and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in corporate finance from Georgia State university. Also, he has earned a certificate in economic development finance from the National Development Council.
