Assignments and Grading

Students taking the course for academic credit are required to complete course electronic assignments, a project paper, and participate in interactive discussion in class sessions, with other students, and the instructor.

Electronic Assignments

Students will complete four brief electronic assignments (approximately 600 -700 words).   These assignments will be posted as the course progresses.  For further details, select electronic assignments page.

Project Paper

Students will be asked to write a course project paper related to one of the themes of the course on technology policy and industrial modernization. For furthe details, select project paper here.

Interactive dissussions

Students are encouraged to participate fully in discussions about class themes, readings, student papers, and related topics.  During physical and telebroadcast (ISDN) classes, in-class discussion is invited.  At other times, students will be asked and encouraged to engaged in electronic discussion with the instructor and other students by electronic mail and the course listserv (see communications).

Grading

Grading for academic credit will be based on the following weighting:

Electronic Assignments 35%
Project Paper 50%
Interaction 15%
Total 100%
